| According to many people, the Bükk is the most beautiful range of hills in Hungary. The area abounding in forests, fields, hills and mountains is highly suitable for vine growing. The Bükkalja wine district was established as a result of a decree of 1970, following the successful planting of vines in the region in the preceding years. |

| Hungary's largest historic wine-district, Mátraalja can be reached from Budapest within half an hour by car. We can find descriptions of this seven thousand hectare wine district in records going back to the XIth century. Wine growing began to develop in the XIIIth and XIVth centuries, while by the XVth century there was an organised wine trade in the region. |

The wine region of Eger |

| Eger and its surroundings were the scene of memorable events in Hungarian history when a small Hungarian army stopped the aggressive military expedition of the Turks in 1552. The relics of Hungarian history, the wonderful location of the town, the cultural life, or the medicinal spa waters and baths - what in fact is it that attracts so many domestic and foreign tourists into this mellow old town? Tokaj-Hegyalja Wine-district |

| Tokaj-hegyalja is a famous wine-district of Hungary acknowledged all over the world. The area of six thousand six hundred hectares has all the necessary conditions needed for preparing the noblest sweet wine of the world, the Tokay Aszu. Even the first Magyar settlers of Hungary found grape-vines in this region, though the first authentic reference to vine-growing was found in the deed of foundation of the Turóczi provostship of 1251. |
